Giant tortoises.  Land iguanas.  Marine iguanas.  Flightless cormorants.  Galapagos penguins.  Sea turtles.  Blue-footed boobies.  Red-footed boobies.  Nazca boobies.  Waved albatross.  Flamingos.  Sea lions.  Fur seals.  Sally Lightfoot crabs.  Frigate birds.  Tropicbirds.  Galapagos hawk.  Galapagos mockingbird.  Eagle Rays.  Manta Rays.  Dolphins.  Whales.  Sharks. The list goes on and on.

It’s not just about how many species we find.  It’s that there is no innate fear of humans built into the populations of the Galapagos Archipelago.  We’ll tiptoe through warm sand, among basking sea lions.  Birds will be nesting alongside our paths – sometimes in the path.  The images you think will take 500-600 mm lenses might be accomplished at 200mm!

But don’t forget the exciting landscapes of the Galapagos.  Abrupt cliffs.  Ridgelines lined with giant cacti.  Semi submerged craters.  Photograph those in juxtaposition with sunrises, sunsets, rainbows, or the distant thunder cloud – and you’ll have images to treasure!

And then, there are the islands themselves.  Some newer islands made of fresh lava flows, just poking above the waves.  Life along the edges and in cracks in the lava.

Some islands grew enough to create their own rain and have developed soil and are decorated with a wealth of plant life, supporting a different cast of animals.

Some aging islands, giving way to erosion, are slipping back into the waves.  Dominated by fewer species and an odd collection of animals.

So much to explore amongst these Galapagos Islands.  We have led a number of groups – and we have our favorite spots.  And we love share those with you!

While many Galapagos tours take the shortest route amongst the islands near the airport, we prefer to get away from the crowds, see the diversity, and find those things seen by fewer visitors.

We have been watching the Nemo II for years.  A stable, elegant catamaran-style yacht.  And it has an exciting itinerary that encompasses many of the places we like to go – and to share with our groups of photographers.

We have secured space in our favorite season!  Sunny skies with a few showers over a week.  Warm temperatures.  Historically tranquil seas.  Courtship and nesting in full swing.

There will be snorkeling opportunities.  Expect a wealth of sea life – and you may want to bring a small underwater camera setup!  BYO gear or rent on board.

Some Galapagos tours, to lower prices, start and end at the airport in Quito or Guayaquil.  We prefer to spend a day introducing you to the World Heritage Site of Quito’s old city center.  We have some really special places to share – and the opportunity to photograph the square in the evening.  This day in Quito also give you a safety net if your flights or baggage are delayed – you won’t miss your time in the Galapagos!  We include the hotel rooms in Quito and the domestic flights in your adventure fee!

Our 2022 Galapagos Enchanted Isles Adventure is designed for 9-12 participants.  The itinerary includes 3 nights of lodging in Quito, Ecuador and 7 nights aboard the Nemo II in the Galapagos Archipelago.  We can accommodate 2 singles after four double rooms are committed.

We are really looking forward to our time on the Nemo II in the Galapagos – and to sharing this special yacht and itinerary with you!  Prepare for an adventure of your lifetime – a life-changing learning experience coupled with outstanding photography opportunities.

The Pantanal, in Southwest Brazil, is probably the best place in the world to photograph jaguars. And that photography is largely accomplished from a boat. We have concocted a photography safari that will take you to the best spots at the best time with a great local operator. Jaguars are the object, but we'll also find giant river otters, ocelots, macaws, caiman, capybaras, monkeys, anteaters, tapirs, and toucans!

Mara Crossing Photography Safari

We're headed into the northern Serengeti to witness and photograph the Great Migration as it crosses the fabled Mara River. Nile Crocodiles (the big ones) and treacherous waters make the crossing dangerous. And, predators lurk on both sides of the river, as well! This zone is rich in all kinds of wildlife - the photographic opportunities are outstanding. We did our homework to build just the right logistics for photographers - and to make our time in and out of the vehicles great. Join us!

Winter brings out the "ice" in Iceland. Glaciers photograph with strong blues. Waterfalls are often ice encrusted or even frozen solid. Ice, stranded on the beaches is in a better position for backlight - and looks much more dramatic in close-ups. And, Iceland presents an outstanding opportunity to compose great images of the Northern Lights at nigh! We'll also take time to explore an ice cave!
