Welcome to Nature Photography Adventures. We are focused on designing and guiding small group nature photography adventures and teaching photography techniques.

Nature photographers Bob Harvey and Diane Kelsay guide small groups of photographers to exciting and unique natural, cultural and heritage destinations all over the world. Our photography adventures strive to achieve a balance among wildlife, landscape, abstract, and macro photography - seeking the best each destination has to offer. You'll note that we love dramatic light and know how to use it!

Our adventures feature one-on-one coaching in the field to full instruction on taking control of the design and technical approaches to creating images.

We bring an extensive history and knowledge base to the photographic discussion and have a unique relationship with the tourism industry that enables us to design exciting adventures around the "moments" we nature photographers seek. The photography adventures on this site are truly photography adventures designed by photographers for photographers.

Join us in an exciting nature photography adventure, bring home outstanding images, and improve your ability to capture the wonders of nature in still images.

"We are delighted with our photos, those birds are absolutely spectacular and you helped us come away with new ideas, many wonderful memories as well as outstanding images." Dick and Sue R

All over the world, tourism has been shut down by the actions of countries and companies, as we work to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

That shutdown has sent guides and other employees of tour companies, restaurants, lodges, parks, and conservation efforts home - often without pay.

That shutdown has stopped the flow of money that governments use to manage and maintain parks and protected areas - and to prevent poaching and encroachments on natural areas.

That shutdown has left many conservation organizations and private reserves without the income they derive from visitors.

In short, the shutdown, while slowing the virus, has put the well-being of many people, protected places, special species, and our ability to travel to photograph them at risk.

The solution is to start the flow of visitors, especially photographers, as soon as the health risk lets up. To encourage that - and to send a message to the people, lodges, tour operators, conservation organizations, and governments that we are coming back - we have crafted the special offer below:

Our COVID-19 recovery offer:

Sign up, between today and August 1, 2020 for one or more new adventures (after September 1, 2020).

Then, we'll discount every additional adventure you sign up for during the period from August 1, 2020 through December 31, 2022 by $500*. Those adventures can be any time in the future, so long as they are on our calendar when you sign up.

  • Discount taken from final payment
  • Adventure must meet minimum number of participants
  • Planned payments must be on time
  • We won't inflate tour prices to absorb this discount
  • We promise (as always) to keep a close eye on the businesses that will be there to deliver great experiences (if necessary, we will make changes in itineraries to ensure this)

We understand your personal economics might be shaky right now. However, you can choose an adventure that is scheduled as far out as 2022 and only "invest" in the deposit for now.

The Pantanal, in Southwest Brazil, is probably the best place in the world to photograph jaguars. And that photography is largely accomplished from a boat. We have concocted a photography safari that will take you to the best spots at the best time with a great local operator. Jaguars are the object, but we'll also find giant river otters, ocelots, macaws, caiman, capybaras, monkeys, anteaters, tapirs, and toucans!

Mara Crossing Photography Safari

We're headed into the northern Serengeti to witness and photograph the Great Migration as it crosses the fabled Mara River. Nile Crocodiles (the big ones) and treacherous waters make the crossing dangerous. And, predators lurk on both sides of the river, as well! This zone is rich in all kinds of wildlife - the photographic opportunities are outstanding. We did our homework to build just the right logistics for photographers - and to make our time in and out of the vehicles great. Join us!

Winter brings out the "ice" in Iceland. Glaciers photograph with strong blues. Waterfalls are often ice encrusted or even frozen solid. Ice, stranded on the beaches is in a better position for backlight - and looks much more dramatic in close-ups. And, Iceland presents an outstanding opportunity to compose great images of the Northern Lights at nigh! We'll also take time to explore an ice cave!
